i’m done tweaking…for now

| September 6th, 2006

Well, I think I’m set with my blog’s new look. I initially went with a much more minimalistic theme than what you see now, but nixed it because it made the blog a bit unintuitive to navigate. This theme, Simpla, is clean and simple and allows easy navigation. I had a hard time getting the Archives page to work right but have managed to get it going, which made me very happy. : ) So that’s that for now.

Tomorrow morning I’m heading to a chiropractor to have him check out my shoulders/upper back. I’ve been experiencing pain for the last week and a half, sometimes so much I could hardly move my neck. I’m not sure if it’s caused by stress of if I have messed something up in my back. I’m hoping it’s the former! I know I tweaked my lower back several years ago when I worked for my town’s water department, lifting up fire hydrants by myself, thinking I was a tough guy. But I don’t think that would cause the pain I have now. We’ll see what they say. I’ve never been to one before and have always been a bit wary of chiropractors. I just have images in my mind of Kramer fixing Elaine’s neck on Seinfeld. But the guy I’m going to was recommended to me by a friend from church, so I think I’ll be ok. Though if he looks like Kramer, I’m outta there!

PICT0001

I’m posting this picture because of a giveaway Zoomr has going on right now. Basically, if you’re a blogger, any blogger, they’ll give you a free pro account! Zooomr provides a similar service to Flickr, but with some neat additions like a Lightbox, View All Sizes, trackbacks, and nifty geo-tagging. And it’s super fast! I was planning on getting a pro Flickr account, but it looks like I won’t have to now. : )

Here’s the official announcement from Zooomr. Go get yours!

- UPDATE -

I now have a pro account with Zooomer! That was fast!

mymoomus

| July 8th, 2006

I just downloaded a new plugin for Wordpress called MyMooMus. It will allow me to add my current “mood” as well as show what tv show or music I’m listening too. I’m going to try it out and see if I like it. If not, it’s canned.

***I decided to can it***

John Mayer is currently doing some “secret” shows where he’s road testing some of his new stuff. I saw on his MySpace blog that he had recently played one of these shows. One of his songs was titled “In Repair,” which is the title of a song by another of my favorite bands, Our Lady Peace. I thought I’d see if I could find out if John had covered the song or if it’s an original with the same name. In my searching, I stumbled across a torrent for the Hotel Cafe show he posted about on his blog.

20 minutes later after the finding the torrent and I was listening to some new John Mayer. And I was happy. : )

What’s sweet about this is that John encourages people to tape his shows and trade them. So…since this is legal and free…you should go and download this live set right now. You’ll need a BitTorrent client (such as uTorrent) as well as a way to playback the FLAC files (such as VLC media player).

I’m halfway through the set right now and lovin’ it. His new album should be a good one! Let me know what you think of it after you have a listen.

Word.

4walls update

| March 23rd, 2006

So I haven’t been in much of a mood to blog lately. Not sure why. Prolly cuz I was somewhat mentally spent from this past weekend.

Thanks to all who prayed for the 4Walls weekend. It went awesome! The service project went super smooth and we were able to completely fill three 30×10x10 dumpsters with junk from the church…in 4 hours! God really moved in our leaders and students, with many of them making decisions Sunday morning, some to go on mission trips, some thinking about full-time ministry, some who finally surrendered to Christ. Awesome stuff! I’ll try to post pics soon.

Work at church has been really busy, even with 4Walls behind us. Lots of stuff to catch up on. iConnect is coming soon, so I’ve been working on getting all of the necessary hardware ready for that, along with setting up the backend admin stuff that FellowshipOne needs. It launches in mid-April…get ready for it! I’ll prolly start posting more details about it soon.

Andrew Fessler’s again been a huge help. We now have filtered internet here, along with some super helpful network reporting features. I think someone get’s their 2nd Gold Star!

gold stargold star

You’re a huge help Andrew…thanks for all you do!

That’s it for now. Gonna go eat and then write some thank-you notes to people who were involved in 4Walls.
