I’ve wondered for quite some time now why in the world I leave my car windows down. That might seem like an odd question, so let me explain.

On my rides home from work during warm weather, I always have the windows down. I don’t like to use A/C because my peppy little Civic only makes about 90HP, and using A/C would seriously rob the engine of that much needed power. So, I use what I call 4-65 air: four windows down at “65″ mph. ; )

When I arrive at my current place of residence, a la The Vale, I often times neglect to roll my windows back up. In the back of my mind, I know that they’re down and that they should get rolled up before I go to bed. But sometimes I forget. And you know what happens almost every time I forget? It rains. Yep. Almost always.

Except for last night. And I’m sooo glad it didn’t because it already had happened once earlier this week.

So why do I do this? It’s a pretty dumb thing to do, isn’t it? And I think I’m a decently smart guy. Well, I think I found a possible explanation. Guy Kawasaki has in interesting post on his blog entitled “Why Smart People Do Dumb Things” (Like Not Backup Their Hard Disk) that might help me understand why I do dumb things.

If you’ve ever wondered why you do dumb things, take a look at what Guy has to say. It might help you too.

I came across a blog with pictures posted of clever advertising, I think all from outside the US. Here are 3 that I found right on:

Are you filled with the spirit? This guy is!

what is with people?

Ok, so check this out.

I just ran home from work to pick up something for a co-worker, and on my way back to the office something quite funny happened to me, and not surprisingly, it has to do with Ohio drivers.

I was backing my car out of the driveway and as I was I saw a minivan down the street heading my direction. It was definitely far enough away, or so I thought. As soon as I got backed out and underway, the van was on my tail. Feeling a sense of responsibility for keeping my street safe, I decided that this guy behind me was going to follow the speed limit: 25mph. Minivan put up with that speed for about 10 seconds before zooming by me. Totally taken aback, I threw my hands up and honked my horn, to which Minivan responded by honking their horn and flipping me off! I couldn’t believe someone would pass me just like that! And give me the bird! Especially on my street!

Well, Minivan got to the end of my street and turned right, which happened to be the same way I was going. As I turned and made my way down the road, I saw Minivan up ahead, stopped at the light and turning left to head towards the highway…which is exactly where I was going.

And wouldn’t you know? Minivan was in the right-hand lane of the two lanes that turn left.

Guess who stopped at the light right next to Minivan?

Yep.

Me.

I couldn’t believe who the driver was…it was a soccer mom! And she had her kids in the car! Her window was down, as was my passenger window, so I said to her (in a nice tone of voice, I might add),

“Hey, what was up with passing me back there on Vale?”

She looked at me with the weirdest expression, as if she was thinking “Who the heck are you to talk to me?” After a few odd moments of staring, she replied,

“I can do whatever the h$&% I want to…I’m 37 years old!”

To which I replied,

“Well, that may be true, but…that’s a 25mph zone back there…and there’s always kids playing in the street!”

But I don’t think she heard all of that, because she started rolling up her window when I started my reply. I guess she didn’t like getting lectured from some young punk kid. Hehe…it should be the other way around! The soccer mom with kids in her minivan should have been lecturing me for passing her in a quiet residential neighborhood!

Quite ironic, wouldn’t you say?
